Sustainability

We have a holistic approach to sustainability: incorporating social and environmental responsibility at the heart of our practice; this includes everything from designing resource efficient buildings, urban regeneration, the development of affordable housing, to our commitment to running a responsible and sociable practice.

We are very experienced in designing housing to meet Code for Sustainable Homes level 4, 5 and 6 (a Director has become an Accredited Assessor) working with clients such as Genesis Homes and Westminster Community Homes as well as clients in other sectors such as Transport for London, Lend Lease and Boots. We collaborate with contractors, such as JM Scully, to provide a lean and green complete design and build service for retailers.

We strive to provide innovative solutions based on research-led design and have initiated research projects with the University of Westminster and Loughborough University.
To communicate sustainable best practice to our clients we host free seminars such as the recent office fit out, and retrofitting existing homes.

We have a strong commitment to supporting various educational, health and housing charities including the Social Mobility Organisation, The Steven Lawrence Trust, ARCHIVE and Crash. We regularly mentor students from disadvantaged backgrounds and offer work experience as well.

Our cross-practice Green Team looks at continuous improvement to the way we design our buildings, the way we run our office and the impact of our practice on the environment. For example, minimising our carbon footprint, signing up to the Mayor's Green Procurement Code, WRAP and running an experimental green wall in our courtyard.

In order to formalise our commitment we are working towards implementing an EMS for ISO14001:2004 accreditation.
