This landmark development of 182 residential units acts as a symbol of regeneration in East London.

Located midway between the new Olympic stadium and Canary Wharf, the 0.61 hectare development sits opposite a large park at the end of a long row of warehouses, which are the site of redevelopment into a mixed-use community.

This scheme provides 182 residential units and 750 sqm of startup units. Half of the residential units are affordable homes across a wide spectrum of unit types, including 10% capable of being fully wheelchair accessible. All units have access to the canalside and the family units sited at ground floor level have excellent access to a series of landscaped courtyards.

The 12-storey landmark element of the scheme, known as Ingot Tower, is situated at the junction of the canal and the bridge, which is orientated towards a diagonal route through the park opposite and sets up a north/south geometry which generates distant views to and from the Olympic Park site.

This project meets Eco Homes “Very Good” and achieves 10% renewable energy with biomass heating. Modern methods of construction were utilised and the landscaping integrates natural habitats in line with British Waterways and the Environment Agency’s aspirations.

The scheme received high praise from the GLA and Tower Hamlets. Planning approval was granted in March 2007 and the scheme was completed in 2010, with CGL also fitting out the show flat and marketing suite, a statement of intent to provide the highest possible standard of homes for Genesis Housing Group.
