Andrzej Gierak

BA, BArch, Dip Arch, RIBA

Andrzej joined Child Graddon Lewis in 2010. He now leads and coordinates key projects as an Associate. He specialises in the design of mixed-use and residential architecture, and has several years’ experience in the fast-paced retail sector working for clients such as Nike, Boots, and H&M. He has delivered projects across a broad range of scales, sectors, and workstages.

Notable projects include Victoria Wharf, West End Lane, Leigh Street, and St Leonard’s Court. Victoria Wharf won a coveted Evening Standard New Homes Award in 2018, as well as being shortlisted for a British Homes Award and a Housing Design Award. The project provided 23 much needed affordable homes on a challenging and highly constrained site on Ladbroke Grove. Leigh Street was shortlisted for a Planning Award the same year. West End Lane successfully gained planning consent for a 164 unit residential-led mixed-use scheme at planning committee within an intensely political environment in 2017. St Leonard’s Court, a joint venture with Countryside Properties and Hackney Estates Regeneration, is currently on site and due for completion in 2019.

Andrzej is a leader of the office Revit training programme. He also promotes hand-drawing as part of an office-wide competition. For the past three years Andrzej has mentored students as part of the RIBA Mentoring Programme at Central St Martins.

Andrzej has been a qualified Architect since 2012 and studied at Manchester School of Architecture (Part I and Part II) and RIBA North West (Part III). During his qualifying years, Anj worked on a number of public sector buildings as part of a specialist ballistics design team, including two flagship training and research facilities for the West Midlands Police, from concept to completion at Capra Architects, also in Manchester.

Anj has organised many charity and social events. These include running the London Marathon for the Notting Hill Housing Trust in 2012, and cycling from London to Paris in 2014, and then from Paris to Nice in 2016, for CRASH - a charity that uses its connections in the construction industry to improve homeless shelters. Andrzej is also an enthusiastic competitor in the popular weekly baking competition, Masterbake, which he initiated back in 2011. Anj also organised a Cycle Tour of Berlin for the office trip in 2016, which included Le Corbusier’s Unité d'Habitation, the Olympiastadion, and Teufelsberg, a former US “listening station” on the top of a man-made hill.
